Controversial pop star Lady Gaga’s concert in St Louis, Missouri took an ugly turn when fans were bombarded by a group of angry protestors who demanded that the show be cancelled.

Protesters from Westboro Baptist Church stood outside the venue for the July 17 concert to protest the singer’s ongoing Monster Ball tour and

her outspoken support of gay rights, reported Toronto Sun online.

Gaga, who is known for her eccentric outfits and stage antics took to Twitter to request her fans not to react to the “hate criminals”.

“At the risk of drawing attention to a hateful organization, I would like to make my fans aware of a protest being held outside the St. Louis tonight. My request to (fans) and public authorites (sic) is to pay these hate criminals no mind. Do not interact with them, or try to fight,” tweeted the popstar.

Gaga had angered church goers with her video for the single ‘Alejandro’ which saw her clad in a nun’s robe and swallowing rosary beads.
