The title of Laxmmi Bomb, Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film has now been changed to Laxmii. trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the New title: Laxmii, on Thursday.
It has been noted that the makers of the film changed the name of the film after several Hindu organizations protested against the title Lakshmi Bomb, alleging that it offended religious sentiments and was an insult to Goddess Lakshmi. The makers of the film directed by Raghava Lawrence have been asked by the Karni Sena to send a legal notice with a demand to change the title.
According to several media reports, Laxmmi Bomb had gone for Its censor certificate on Thursday. keeping in mind the sentiments of its viewers and discussions with the Central Board of Film Certification, the producers decided to keep Laxmii by changing the title Laxmmi Bomb.
Laxmmi is a Hindi remake of the 2011 Tamil film Kanchana which was also directed by Raghava Lawrence. he had changed the title from Kanchana to Lakshmi Bomb to “appeal” to the Hindi audience. the director said that In an earlier interview with PTI.
The director told PTI “Our Tamil film was named after the main lead character Kanchana. Kanchana means ‘gold‘ which is a form of Lakshmi. Earlier I considered going the same way for the Hindi remake but we collectively decided that the name must appeal to the Hindi audience as well and what better than Laxmmi,”
In the movie, Akshay Kumar plays the role of a man who possessed by a transgender ghost named Laxmii.
Earlier, Akshay Kumar told PTI about his role in the film: “In my career of 30 years, this is my most mentally intense role. It has been that tough. I’ve never experienced something like this before. The credit goes to my director, Lawrence sir. He introduced me to a version of myself which I didn’t know existed.”
Laxmii was supposed to be released on May 22 but was delayed due to the coronavirus epidemic. The film will now be released on Diwali on November 9 on Disney + Hotstar.
