Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni succumbed to his team’s struggles in the ongoing edition of the IPL on Friday after a 10-wicket defeat against the Mumbai Indians. CSK was sent to bat at one stage 43/7, eventually scoring a total of 114/9. The middle-order collapsed very early after openers Ruturaj Gaekwad and Faf du Plessis got out cheaply, and the players humbly surrendered their wickets. 

It is necessary to smile even in the midst of pain to avoid panic in a difficult situation, MS Dhoni admitted. In a post-match presentation, Dhoni said, “Even when you are hurting you put a smile on your face so that the management doesn’t look like they are in a panic.”

Next, he added, That’s what young people want and I think the boys have done it. We’ve kept a dressing room like that and hopefully, we can turn it into the next three games for at least pride.

Whenever we don’t start well, it becomes difficult for the middle order, Dhoni said during the post-match conference. 

The defeat on Friday was no different, it was difficult to win in the current edition of the Chennai-based franchise.

Dhoni said, “In cricket when you are going through a difficult phase, you need a little bit of luck for your way. But in this tournament, it has not really gone our way,”. 

“Whenever you’re not doing well there can be a hundred reasons. One of the main things you ask yourself is whether you are playing to your potential.

“I think we haven’t done that this year when you take out the playing XI and judge whether it’s good to justify their figures on paper on the field.”
